The TAI secretariat is seeking a full-time PROGRAM ASSOCIATE to be based in our Washington, D.C. office, reporting to the Executive Director. This person will be an integral member of our small team working across our program and activities. In executing his/her responsibilities, the Program Associate will have the opportunity to gain substantive experience in the dynamic field of transparency and accountability, to strengthen a mix of skills (programmatic, research, facilitation and administrative), and to benefit from close collaboration with a diverse group of funders, philanthropic networks, advocacy organizations, researchers, and policymakers. The ideal candidate must be able to function independently with minimal supervision, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and to serve as a reliable and flexible member of a small team. The ideal candidate will also have an appreciation for philanthropy’s role in supporting social change.

ABOUT THE ROLE

 Programmatic Duties (~60%)

• Work directly with the Executive Director on the international tax and closing civic space work streams, engaging member staff and grantees and researchers.

• Lead the production of a new bimonthly member update on TAI activities, manage member contacts and member grants database.

• Support TAI senior leadership in drafting content and manage deadline tracking for grant reports and submissions.

• Assist in research projects related to the four strategic themes and related philanthropic topics.

• Represent TAI at meetings and conferences and report back to staff and members.

• Draft remarks, blogs, and presentations for TAI staff and self, as requested.

• Conduct background research on prospective TAI members.

• Other duties as assigned.

Administrative Duties (~40%)

• Coordinate logistics for all TAI meetings, including scheduling, collecting and organizing documentation, taking notes and producing report-backs, following up with participants, and arranging meetings spaces.

• Manage Executive Director’s calendar by scheduling meetings, conference calls, other appointments, and travel as required.

• Prepare expense reimbursement reports and monthly credit card reconciliations.

• Respond to requests for information in coordination with TAI staff.

• Assist in recruiting and managing TAI Fellows.

• Assist with other administrative tasks as needed and proofreading public and internal materials.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 • Very strong attention to detail and organizational skills absolutely necessary, including a strong ability to time manage and coordinate schedules.

• Can-do, problem-solving attitude and interest in working with a small team.

• Passion for the TAI vision and mission.

• Excellent research and writing skills.

• Adaptability and ability to re-prioritize according to a changing context.

• Able to work effectively and creatively, both independently and within a team.

• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with all types of stakeholders and personalities.

Education and Experience

• At least 1-2 years of work experience in a professional office environment, preferably at an NGO (or a funder).

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in international relations, foreign policy, global affairs, conflict resolution, or a related field required.

• Comfort in working with numbers and with Microsoft Suite programs, especially Excel.

• U.S. work authorization is required.

 

COMPENSATION

Salary range is $45,000 – $50,000, depending on experience. Generous health and wellness, vacation, and other benefits.
